Harvest at Bregårdsbuan

Bregårdsbuan is the dialectal way of saying Bredgårdsbodarna in Jamska (a Swedish dialect spoken in the province of Jämtland). The saying refers to ‘The mountain pastures (buan = bodarna = fäbodsvallarna in Swedish) by the homestead called Bredgården’.

…and this is where my grandmother and great grandparents lived during the summers.

Old man of Hoverberg

“Hoverbergsgubben”

Hoverberget is a mountain on a peninsula in the southern part of the Storsjön lake residing within Berg municipality in the southern parts of Jämtland in northern Sweden. The folk tale says that the old man of Hoverberg lives in a cave within the mountain.

My grandfather claimed he sometimes saw the old giant standing in front of the mountain.
